Conference gives pharmacy a voice

The conference, which is to be held at Crowne Plaza, Shaws Bridge in Belfast on Sunday 29 March 2020 is designed for all those with an interest in any aspect of community pharmacy:    

  • Pharmaceutical contractors
  • Community pharmacy managers
  • Locum pharmacists
  • Practice-based pharmacists
  • Stakeholder organisations
  • Pre-Reg Pharmacists
  • Pharmacy Students
  • Health and Social Care Trust personnel
  • Health and Social Care Board personnel

The conference will give all involved the opportunity to network with colleagues and discuss and educate themselves on issues relevant to community pharmacy regulation, it will also provide an opportunity for all attendees to be updated on changes to the laws and ethics governing pharmacies and pharmacy practice. 

The Government’s vision for professional governance has been made clear, but this conference will enable delegates to understand the relationship between law, ethics and good governance and how it relates to patient safety

For conference delegates there will be a choice of three of seven breakout sessions. 

Each breakout session will run three times. 

Breakout sessions:

a. CBD: The Legal Status

b. Over-the-counter analgesics: the science and the myths 

c. Patient Group Directions: running successful flu and travel clinics

d. Falsified Medicines Directive  – and other IT challenges for Community Pharmacy

e. Life-saving injectable: adrenaline auto-injector 

f. Electronic/controlled drug registers / Electronic adverse event reporting

g. Life-saving injectable: Naloxone legal responsibilities

There will be a maximum of 20 people per breakout session.

To confirm your attendance at these sessions you must register. Details on registration process are highlighted below. Each will be chaired by an ‘expert’, who will facilitate the session, which will take the form of a discussion or a demonstration.
